The Phatory is pleased to announce an exhibition of works entitled “WHAT” by Janice Sloane from Friday, November 12 through Saturday, December 11, with an artist reception on Friday, November 12, from 6-9:00 p.m. The gallery is located at 618 E 9th Street, between Avenues B & C, in Manhattan."Body Type 5", 2021, 18" x 24", india ink on paper

 

Janice Sloane’s work explores themes of the body and its impermanence, transgression, and transformation. In this exhibition, she examines the head, living forms, intimacy, and breath. On display is a vibrant and emotional cross-section of work on paper, photo, sculpture, and video she has done over the past few years.

 

Sloane lives and works in New York City. Her work explores themes of the body and its impermanence, transgression and transformation. She will be participating in the exhibition ” In Touch” at the Czong Institute of Contemporary Art in Gimpo, South Korea in November 2021 and has exhibited at Oolite Arts, Miami, MH ProjectNYC, SPRING/BREAK ART SHOW, The Parlour Bushwick, The Last Brucennial, The Nightclub, Miami, Newman Popiashvilli Gallery, Galeria La Refaccionaria, Mexico DF, X Teresa Actual, Mexico DF, El Centro de La Imagen, Mexico DF, White Box and  Annex, Neue Galerie Graz, Garash Galerie, Mexico DF.
